I can clearly recall the moment I knew I needed help. I was on a plane flying back home and as I looked out the window, the thought crossed my mind, 'If it wouldn't kill my mother, today would be a great day for a plane crash.' As quickly as it came, my mind began to tell me, 'This isn't normal! You are in danger!' It's not that I think I would actually hurt myself, but I knew this wasn't just a blue phase. I was in a depression and I needed help to get out.
That first day when I arrived at Miracles, Inc. I don't mind telling you I was skeptical. I walked in and the soothing smells of aromatherapy hit me, the fountain was bubbling and the music set softly in the background, and I wanted to RUN! But, I took a deep breath and said, 'This is the EXACT atmosphere you look for when you get a pedicure, so suck it up and pretend like she's rubbing your feet!' It wasn't long before Carla came down the hall and offered me tea. I am sure she could see my fear as I sat on the couch. But, I am as equally sure that she could see my desperation to get help too. Carla quickly realized that the way to relate to me at first, would have to be as a fellow business woman. She impressed me that she realized this so quickly. That first meeting was a lot of questions, a lot of listening. But, what hit me most was it ended with a hug. I wasn't sure I really wanted to let go! I had forgotten how much I missed hugs!
I returned the next week. Still unsure as to what to expect. However, when I sat and spoke with Carla it was like something in her soul and her words resonated with me and kept ringing in my own spirit. I began to cherish our times and embrace the process. As I did, I found great freedom and strength in my personal life. Each piece that I added to my own life gave me greater freedom. From EFT techniques that have helped to control unruly headaches, to remembering to breathe prior to decision making'.From the recommendation of the book, 'Keys to the Kingdom' to the talks we've had in her office. I am on a journey of true miracles now. I can see that there is much happiness yet to come! During one of our sessions, Carla said something along the lines of 'He's not the one I care about'you are my patient.' At that point, I realized I had found someone who had only MY best interest at heart, she didn't ask me to compromise my best in order for someone else to achieve their best or to achieve some acceptance of a black and white world. That was HUGE! Because she cared about me that much and saw such great value in me, I was able to begin to see that same value in me. Wherever life may take me from here, I will always cherish the times I have spent at Miracles and I know that my life will be better, and my spirit stronger for it. Thank you!
